About Sectivia

Sectivia is a free map of the U.S. stock market organised by value chain rather than by index or ticker list. It shows who supplies whom, not only who moved today.

What the map is

Six sectors, AI & digital infrastructure, Energy, grid & critical infrastructure, Defense, security & space, Medicine, pharma & life science, Quantum computing and Banks, payments & capital markets, are each split into the segments that make up their value chain, from upstream suppliers to end markets. 214 U.S.-listed companies are placed by the role they play in that chain, plus 1 private company the chain would be misleading without. 350 hand-mapped supplier-to-customer relations connect them, so any company can be followed upstream to what it depends on and downstream to who buys from it.

Every company has an editorial profile: what it sells, the themes it is exposed to, its competitors and the risks that matter for its place in the chain. A company that touches several sectors is placed once, where its business sits, and tagged for the rest. Coverage is limited to companies that trade in the U.S., including American depositary receipts, so every listed name has comparable daily data.

The map is available as an interactive app (list, chain and heatmap views in English, German, Spanish and Danish), as static sector overviews, company profiles, supply-chain pages and head-to-head comparisons, and as a downloadable dataset.

How the relations are mapped

Every relation is one supplier-to-customer edge, added by hand from company filings, investor presentations, product documentation and industry reporting. Some are stated outright by one of the two parties; others are a reasoned inference from what a company sells and who buys that category of product.

Detailed supplier lists are commercially confidential almost everywhere, so no public map of this kind can be complete or fully sourced. Treat the graph as a researched starting point rather than a register of contracts. It grows as relationships are documented, and corrections are welcome.

The supply-chain graph is Sectivia's own work and is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0: see the open dataset.

Where the numbers come from

Market data comes from Finnhub and is refreshed once a day after the U.S. close: price and the day's change, market capitalisation, P/E, P/S and P/B, and returns year to date and over three, six and twelve months. Returns use prices adjusted for stock splits and dividends, so they can differ slightly from a simple price comparison.

Companies that report in a currency other than the dollar have their market capitalisation shown in that currency and are kept out of dollar rankings rather than converted at a guessed rate. Recent headlines shown in company profiles come from the same feed. The "as of" date on every page is the trading day the snapshot describes.

What Sectivia is not

Who makes it

Sectivia is an independent project, built and maintained by one person in Denmark. It has no commercial relationship with Finnhub or with any company on the map beyond using Finnhub's public data feed. If the site is useful to you, you can buy me a coffee.
